IGA (Independent Grocers of Australia) is a supermarket banner made up of independently owned local grocery stores supplied by the wholesaler Metcash. Rather than a single company, IGA is a brand under which more than 1,200 separately owned supermarkets trade nationwide — from small neighbourhood stores to large IGA X-press and full supermarket formats — most operated by local family or small-business owners.

Because each store is independently owned, jobs are advertised and employed by the individual store owner, not by a central company. Frontline roles are the familiar supermarket ones: checkout and customer service, grocery and shelf stacking, fresh departments such as deli, bakery, meat, and produce, and night fill — commonly casual and part-time under the General Retail Industry Award and often a first job. Store-owner businesses also hire department supervisors and store managers.

Wholesale, distribution, and brand-support roles sit with Metcash, the company behind the IGA banner. Applications for in-store roles are made directly to each IGA store; CareerTrees links through to those listings.
