About Metcash
What Metcash does, its mission and values, and what it's like to work there in Australia.
Metcash (ASX: MTS) is an Australian wholesale distribution and marketing company — the supplier and brand owner behind a large network of independently owned stores rather than a chain operator itself. It runs three pillars: Food (supplying more than 1,600 independent supermarkets and convenience stores, chiefly under the IGA and Foodland banners), Liquor (supplying bottle shops under banners such as Cellarbrations and IGA Liquor), and Hardware (owning Mitre 10 and Total Tools and supplying independent hardware stores). It is headquartered in Sydney.
Because the supermarkets and most stores it serves are independently owned, Metcash's own jobs are concentrated in wholesale and distribution: distribution-centre and warehouse roles (order picking, forklift, inwards goods), transport, merchandising and category management, and the buying, marketing, finance, technology, and people teams that support the banners.
The company also owns Total Tools outright and operates some corporate stores. Applications for Metcash's own roles are handled through its careers site, while jobs in IGA and Foodland supermarkets are advertised by the independent retailers that own them; CareerTrees links through to those official listings.
