About Hungry Jacks
What Hungry Jacks does, its mission and values, and what it's like to work there in Australia.
Hungry Jack's is the Australian franchise of the Burger King brand, trading under the Hungry Jack's name because the Burger King trademark was already registered locally when it launched in 1971. It is owned and largely operated by Competitive Foods Australia, a privately held company controlled by the Cowin family and one of the country's larger family-owned businesses.
Hungry Jack's runs more than 400 restaurants across every state and territory and employs more than 19,000 people, across a mix of company-operated and franchised locations.
Most jobs are at restaurant level and are commonly casual or part-time under the Fast Food Industry Award: crew members on the grill, front counter, and drive-through, often a first job for students. These step up to shift supervisor and then assistant and restaurant manager.
Competitive Foods also hires above the restaurant for area and operations management, plus support-office roles in human resources, training, supply chain, property, marketing, finance, and information technology. Applications are handled directly through Hungry Jack's and Competitive Foods; CareerTrees links through to those official listings.
