Chemist Warehouse is an Australian discount-pharmacy retailer known for large-format stores that combine prescription dispensing with discounted health, beauty, vitamin, and fragrance ranges. Headquartered at Preston in Melbourne, the group operates more than 500 stores nationwide. Under Australian law each pharmacy is owned by registered pharmacists, who run their stores under the Chemist Warehouse brand while the group provides buying, marketing, distribution, and systems support.
Since the February 2025 merger with pharmaceutical wholesaler Sigma Healthcare, the combined business is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: SIG).
Most jobs are in stores and are commonly casual or part-time: retail and pharmacy assistants on the shop floor and registers, beauty and fragrance consultants, and qualified pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the dispensary. Store leadership includes assistant and store managers, and registered-pharmacist roles step up to pharmacist-in-charge.
Behind the stores sit distribution-centre and warehouse roles and support-office functions in buying, marketing, e-commerce, finance, and IT. In-store roles are covered by the relevant pharmacy and retail awards or enterprise agreement.
