About Bankwest
What Bankwest does, its mission and values, and what it's like to work there in Australia.
Bankwest is an Australian retail bank, founded in Perth in 1895 as the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia and a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank since 2008. Following a transition completed at the end of 2024, Bankwest now operates as a digital bank: it closed its branch network (converting some Western Australian branches to Commonwealth Bank branches) and serves customers through its app, online banking, and phone, with home lending a particular focus.
Because Bankwest is part of the Commonwealth Bank group, its roles sit alongside CBA's and are concentrated in Perth and other capital cities. Jobs span contact-centre and customer-service positions, home-lending and broker-support roles, digital and technology teams, risk, operations, and corporate functions.
The bank recruits through experienced hires as well as the wider Commonwealth Bank graduate and early-career programs. Applications are handled through the Bankwest and Commonwealth Bank careers sites; CareerTrees links through to those official listings.
