Founded in 2015 by Jack Zhang, Max Li, Lucy Liu, and Xijing Dai, the company offers multi-currency accounts, international transfers, card issuing, and expense management to more than 100,000 business customers.
The global headquarters is in Melbourne, with a substantial Sydney presence in revenue and engineering. Airwallex also runs offices across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America, and holds payments licences in most of its operating jurisdictions. Most Australian roles operate on a hybrid model with three days a week onsite expected in hub cities.
Airwallex is privately held and has raised more than US$1 billion in venture funding at valuations above US$5 billion. Australian hiring spans engineering, product, design, financial crime and compliance, customer support, sales, and finance.
