FCC is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing governance of the group’s financial crime compliance program - driving the Group’s approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF), Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Anti-Tax Evasion (ATE) risks and obligations.

What your role will involve

You will be part of a specialist team reporting to the Executive Manager, Financial Crime Compliance. While this role is focused on supporting CBA’s New Zealand-based subsidiary (ASB), it operates within the broader financial crime advisory team.

In this role, you will support ASB in delivering technology and process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial crime detection and prevention capabilities. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and contributing to strategic reforms across financial crime risk management, including Australian reforms and AUSTRAC expectations.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across FCC Australia and New Zealand, as well as enterprise-wide business and technology teams, to enable effective and efficient management of financial crime risks.

As Data Engineering Lead, you will lead, coach and develop a team of data professionals, including engineers, analysts and quality assurance specialists. You will also build strong stakeholder relationships, uplift engineering standards and drive continuous improvement across risk, compliance and platform health.

  • Understand business objectives and translate them into end-to-end data solutions

  • Define and execute data and technical solution strategies

  • Design and deliver scalable data architectures, pipelines and integration solutions

  • Collaborate with business, operations and technology teams to ensure alignment with standards and requirements

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of agile delivery, from ideation to implementation

  • Ensure solutions are robust, secure, scalable and aligned to enterprise standards

  • Uplift engineering quality through best practices and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to delivery planning and ensure alignment with broader engineering strategy

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, guide and mentor data professionals to build capability and drive high performance

  • 10+ years’ experience in designing and delivering analytics, data engineering and data warehousing solutions

  • Strong experience building end-to-end solutions on big data platforms (e.g. Spark, Scala)

  • Experience developing ETL pipelines using Spark/Scala, with working knowledge of UNIX Shell scripting and SQL/PL-SQL

  • Experience with AWS cloud services, including services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis and Step Functions

  • Experience with data platforms such as Teradata, Cloudera Hadoop and Apache ecosystem tools (e.g. Spark, Hive)

  • Strong understanding of data delivery lifecycle, data assurance frameworks and agile methodologies

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
