Do work that matters
At CommBank, we’re building a better bank for our customers and the community. As Senior Manager Line 1 Risk, you will play a critical leadership role in enabling safe, sustainable growth across our Digital Home Loans business, including Unloan and the Digital Growth Engine crew.
You will lead Line 1 risk support across a fast-paced, digitally led environment, partnering with senior business stakeholders to embed strong risk behaviours, strengthen self-reliant risk management, and support the delivery of better customer outcomes.
See yourself in the team
This role sits within Home Buying Line 1 Risk and reports to the Chapter Lead Lending.
You will lead a small team of risk professionals supporting the Digital Home Loan business. The team provides risk advice, oversight and support across all aspects of operational risk and compliance frameworks. The role operates in a complex, delivery-focused environment, requiring strong judgement, constructive challenge, senior stakeholder influence and the ability to balance commercial, customer and risk outcomes.
Your day could look like
Leading Line 1 risk support across Digital Home Loans, ensuring activity is aligned to risk appetite, policy, compliance obligations and strategic objectives.
Providing senior risk advice to business leaders on operational risk, compliance risk, customer impacts, control effectiveness, change risk and emerging risks.
Partnering with stakeholders to implement operational risk and compliance framework requirements in a pragmatic and consistent way.
Uplifting risk capability and culture across the business by embedding strong risk behaviours and risk-informed decision making.
Overseeing the quality of risk data and deliverables, including inputs into relevant risk systems, governance forums and reporting processes.
Leading team planning, prioritisation and delivery, while coaching and developing team members to improve the quality and consistency of risk advice.
Identifying opportunities to simplify risk processes, improve controls and support better customer and business outcomes.
What successful candidates will look like
You are a confident, pragmatic and resilient Line 1 risk leader who can operate at pace in a complex digital lending environment. You bring sound judgement, strong stakeholder influence and the ability to provide constructive challenge while supporting business delivery.
You are comfortable working with ambiguity, joining the dots across multiple crews and translating risk requirements into practical business outcomes. You can lead and coach others, build capability, and help create a more consistent and resilient risk support model.
We are interested in hearing from people who have
Extensive experience in Line 1 risk, operational risk, compliance risk, controls, issue management and governance within financial services.
Strong understanding of retail lending, preferably Home Buying and digital lending.
Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders, apply sound judgement and influence balanced, risk-informed decision making.
