CommBank’s Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) business is looking for a Senior Trader in our Credit Trading team. This role will join IB&M business which provide institutional clients with solutions across the debt to equity capital spectrum, payment systems, risk management and other banking services. We call this proposition ‘Total Capital Solutions’.

The Team.
This role will join the FIC Trading Credit Desk, a key component of the IB&M business responsible for market-making, risk management, and liquidity provision across global credit markets. The desk trades flow credit products across multiple currencies and jurisdictions, managing inventory and risk across a broad range of corporate, financial, sovereign, and supranational issuers.
 

Our primary focus is facilitating client flow by providing competitive pricing and execution, while actively managing risk and identifying relative value opportunities across markets works closely with Sales and Research partners to deliver solutions to institutional clients and support the bank's broader credit franchise


The title for this role will be; Director Credit Trading

Do work that matters:
As a senior member of the Credit Trading team, you will be responsible for making markets across all credit products, with a primary focus on AUD Corporates.
 

The ideal candidate will have a strong Quantitative background.
 

Key elements of the role include:

  • Trading and Risk Management of Credit products with the objective of meeting team and business revenue targets
  • Assist other team members with the price making and risk management of other portfolios
  • Work to continually improve and build the broader Credit Trading teams pricing, analytics and risk management infrastructure by utilising your Quantitative background and programming skills 
  • Assist with the development of and expand on our e-trading/e-delivery capabilities
  • Work closely with business partners and end to end business stakeholders, offshore and domestically, to achieve business development and revenue targets
  • Maintain sound risk management practices and compliance with delegations
  • Actively gather, maintain and report knowledge of industry and market conditions, understand the financial impacts and proactively respond to client needs
  • Understand GM products inclusive of product enhancements, changes and competitive information
  • Maintain a continuous improvement approach for product, people, process and systems. Recommend and influence improvement opportunities
  • Own client complaints until resolved, and ensure these are managed in line with Bank and GM policy

  • A thorough knowledge of Global Financial Markets and the Australian Corporate Market
  • Strong background in Credit Trading
  • Inherent ability to understand risk, and recognise good trading outcomes
  • Strong E trading understanding, and implementation of platform development
  • Strong Quantitative and Programming skills
  • Strong AI knowledge and capability
  • Sound business acumen
  • Exceptional attention to detail & communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to comply with regulations, policies and process
  • Analytical with strong problem solving, numerical and verbal reasoning skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, with a high degree of flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges; high self-motivation

Your Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Financial Markets with appropriate industry qualifications to deal with Markets products.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline(s) such as: Finance/Mathematics/Economic/Engineering/Computer Science/Psychology
