Executive Director Head of Banks Asia Pacific

Your opportunity

Reporting to the MD, Head of FIG, this is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing relationship strategy across Australian and International Banks, Central Banks and Public Institutions in Asia Pacific.

This role sits at the intersection of relationship leadership, markets expertise and commercial growth. 

You’ll be empowered to shape strategy, deepen client relationships, and unlock new opportunities, all while working closely with product partners across IB&M.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing and executing a clear, forward-looking client strategy aligned to business objectives, risk appetite and growth ambitions

• Identifying opportunities to grow the client base and deepen engagement, particularly across markets-related products

• Building trusted, long-term relationships with senior client stakeholders, positioning CommBank as a strategic partner

• Originating and delivering complex, multi-product banking solutions in collaboration with Debt Capital Markets, Global Markets and Transaction Banking teams

• Driving portfolio performance and wallet share, leveraging the full breadth of IB&M capabilities

• Leading, uniting and inspiring a high-performing Sydney team, fostering a strong, inclusive and accountable culture

• Working closely with internal partners to deliver integrated client outcomes and commercial growth

• Ensuring strong governance and acting as first line of defence across credit, regulatory and reputational risk

• Monitoring portfolio health and proactively managing emerging risks

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

• A strong financial services background, with deep experience across financial institutions and international banks

• Proven experience managing relationships across international banks in Australia and domestic banking clients

• Broad product expertise, with strength in markets-related products

• A track record of originating and executing complex transactions

• The ability to define and execute growth strategies, identifying opportunities and delivering commercial outcomes

• Experience working across teams to increase client wallet share and deliver integrated solutions

• Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence and engage at C-suite level

• Proven leadership capability, with a track record of building, uniting and developing high-performing teams

• Strong understanding of credit risk, regulatory frameworks and KYC/AML requirements

• A tertiary qualification in Finance, Legal, STEM or a related field
