The CommSec Data and Insights Centre of Excellence (COE) is a central Data and Analytics function that supports the delivery of Data and Advanced Analytics offerings and services. The COE’s mission is to provide trusted data, capabilities and actionable insights in partnership with our stakeholders, to drive customer experience, empower decision making and safeguard our data.  ​

The Insights and Decision Science Chapter, within the Centre of Excellence (CoE), is responsible for delivering CommSec's insights, advanced analytics, data science, and AI capabilities. The team enables strategic decision-making by providing actionable insights through reporting, diagnostic analysis, predictive analytics, and data-driven recommendations. We leverage integrated online and offline behavioural data to develop advanced analytics frameworks, AI-powered solutions, and decision-support tools that enhance customer engagement, optimise business performance, improve operational efficiency, and support effective risk management. 

In this role  

As the Advanced Analytics Manager within the Business Intelligence and Analytics Squad, you will deliver business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics solutions that support strategic decision-making across CommSec. Using SQL, Python, VSCode and advanced analytics techniques, you will analyse data from CommSec and Group platforms to provide insights across compliance, risk, financial crime, customer, and operational initiatives. You will develop dashboards, perform impact and trend analysis, and deliver actionable recommendations that improve business performance, enhance risk management, and support data-driven decision-making. 

Other responsibilities will include  

  • Use CommSec and Group data and systems to complete complex and advanced data analysis that gives the business essential information to help manage risk 

  • Perform detailed analysis of CommSec and Group data to provide the business with information to respond to regulatory requests within specific timeframes 

  • Complete required project work stream outputs with quality assurance/approval for your area of responsibility or other additional requests for analytics 

  • Collaborate with key business partners such as Risk, Digital or Product teams to understand business needs and help shape the advanced analytics backlog. 

  • Upskill the broader COE in Advanced Analytics and help engineer the foundations for the future of AI, ML and Agentics in CommSec

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and modern data technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata, Python, VS Code and AWS with a proven ability to manipulate, analyse, and model large-scale, complex datasets using efficient and scalable practices. 

  • Sound experience across data management, information strategy, and analytics, including data governance, data quality, advanced modelling, and the development of automated analytical workflows. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering advanced analytical solutions within high-complexity environments, including applying sophisticated statistical, predictive, and machine-learning techniques to support business decision-making. 

  • Sound level of proficiency in key capabilities – IT SDLC processes, Agile delivery, written documentation/specification skills
